What about eternal punishment? |
|||
|
These internetpages have to do
with the Bible. That's why we call them Gods Sword. It is the
Bible itself that has given this powerful name to the Bible.: "For the word
of God is living and effective and sharper than any twoedged sword. It
penetrates even to the dividing line of soul and spirit of joints and
marrow, and judges the desires and thoughts of the heart. (Hebrews 4:12)
With this background I dare to move toward this very
serious subject : Does hell exist?
Let me first give a short
explanation what the different religions in this world teach
about the world hereafter. I have discovered having been a teacher of
foreign religions in Highschool, that very few of them teach about complete
extinction after death.
Of course they have different opinions of what will
happen when the soul leaves the body. Some believe in reincarnation, others
believe in a place which they call hell with eternal punishment, even being
hanged upside down in hell. Paradise for them is a complete extinction of
life, but only few are able to reach such a state, only very holy people.
What does the
Bible say?
Neither the Old Testament nor the New Testament are
silent when it comes to the problem about the life hereafter. No where in
the Holy Scriptures will you find, not even a single verse, that the death
of the body is the end of existence.
Numerous of places in the Old Testament you will find a
clear distinction between the righteous and the unrighteous person and
where those two categories of people spend their eternity. When Jesus tells
about the rich man and Lazarus. he uses expressions from the Old
Testament, Abrahams bosom for the righteous and a place of suffering for
the unrighteous rich man,.
We remember from the story that the rich man begs Abraham
to send Lazarus to him with a little drop of water so that he could be
released for a short while from the terrible thirst he feel in hell - the
kingdom of death, This request was denied. It was impossible to pass over
from either side. There is no entrance or escape from death, Jesus says,
Yes it is Jesus who tells about
this matter most of all the biblical persons. I will give you
only a few examples: In Mathew 5: 22 Jesus says: .. .. But whoever said:
You fool! is liable to the fires of hell." and then from v. 29: "If your
right eye causes you to sin, pluck it out and throw it away from you. You
have better loose one of your members, than have your whole body cast into
hell.." Math. 10:28: "Do not be afraid of those who kill the soul, but
rather fear him. who is able to destroy both soul and body in hell."
And of course, the reason why Jesus came, was to save the
race, the human kind from this terrible place called hell, which never was
prepared for people but for the devil and his angels, the Bible says.
The consequence of following after the devil is of course
to be together with him and his angels in hell and after that in the sea of
eternal fire.
Hell and the lake of fire are not places where people are
burned completely and are gone forever. No, people in hell continue to
exist for ever.
When Antichrist and the false prophet are thrown into the
lake of fire, they stayed firstly for one thousand years. After such a
long time, they still existed, the book of Revelation writes.
The Bible says, that those who have not their names
written in the book of Life, they are thrown in the lake of fire. So, the
clue is, be sure that you have your name written in this book of Life by
calling upon the name of Jesus for salvation from your sins. Your sins will
find you out. Your sins will cause you to be thrown into this terrible
place.
Here is
Gods roadmap.
When a nonbeliever dies, he goes to hell. Another name
is: "Kingdom of death." That place, we understand, is a place of eternal
suffering, separated from the love of God. Given over to the hatred of de
devil and his demons, There are no singing or music in hell, only crying
and gnashing of teeth. People will regret that they did not call upon the
name of Jesus for salvation. There is no second chance in hell.
When a believer dies his spirit goes to paradise. The
wonderful place of paradise was erected when Jesus rose from the dead, took
with him the thief from the cross and all righteous souls from Old
Testament time and led them in triumph to paradise. There they will stay
until the resurrection morning, when Jesus comes back to take his bride
home, to "his Fathers House."
The Bible teaches that it is an
eternal hell. Jesus came to save us from such a terrible
future. In this moment, as you are reading these words, I will ask you so
lovingly as I can, bow your knees, confess your sin, cry out to Jesus and
His blood and say: "Dear Jesus, thank you for dying for me. In this moment
I will believe in you. Thank you for receiving me and writing my name in
your book in heaven., I will from this moment live for you. When I die I
know that I will go to heaven. . In the name of Jesus I pray, Amen From
this moment on, if you have prayed an honest prayer, you belong to Jesus,
and I expect to meet you in heaven, because I am going there too. God bless you, my brother and sister in Jesus Christ,
our Lord.
